RHS Hampton Court Show Garden Work in Progress

The Way of St James

After many months of hard work, we are so excited to see our show garden design taking shape at RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival.

Entitled The Way of Saint James, the garden was designed for the Galicia Tourism Board (Axencia Turismo de Galicia) and the Spanish Institute of Tourism (Turespaña). It draws inspiration from St. James, the patron saint of Spain, and the pilgrims’ journey to Santiago de Compostela where his shrine can be found. Our garden aims to capture the essence of this spiritual journey through Galicia's ancient forests.

A natural pond, boulders, trees and woodland planting recreate the cool shade and ambiance of the route, and the Camino symbols that feature along the pilgrimage are included in our design. The Santiago cross, scallop shells and yellow arrows will guide visitors around the garden to a focal point: a statue which symbolises the enduring spirit of St James.

In other areas of the garden, metal arches with scented climbers and gravel paths will evoke the romantic nature of Galician gardens, and granite references the natural paving materials typically found in this area of Spain.

We are very pleased that our vision is coming to life RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival runs from 1 to 7 July 2024, so please come and say hello if you are visiting.
