RIPPLES OF TRANQUILLITY
Best Garden Design
Project Type: Show Garden
Ripples of Tranquillity, draws inspiration from the poetic water gardens of Suzhou in China, celebrating calm, rhythm, and reflection through a contemporary interpretation.
Centring around bespoke water tables of varying heights create gentle ripples, producing soft, meditative sounds that guide visitors through the space.
A standing hempcrete wall which references traditional Suzhou architecture acts as a landmark in the garden. Topped with a pergola, pre-fabricated locally with compressed bamboo, it provides height, structure, and shade, and helps to frame views across the site.
Locally sourced materials and pollinator-friendly, naturalistic planting highlight sustainability, seasonal beauty, and a deep connection to place.
The garden was awarded a gold medal, and the Best Garden Design at Suzhou Flower Show 2026.
“By reinterpreting Suzhou’s historic garden language through a modern Western sustainable approach, the garden creates a serene and memorable experience that resonates emotionally and showcases regional culture and craftsmanship.”
