Cricklewood
A cohesive style for gardens & courtyard
Location: London, UK
Project type: Private Garden
Client: Private Client
Following recent extension work to the client’s house, we were instructed to improve the large rear garden and two internal courtyards.
Our scope of works included improving the original landscape layout provided by another landscape firm, solving some technical issues, working up the levels, and liaising with the project architect. We also worked with the tree arboriculturist consultant to discharge planning conditions in relation to works around existing trees, and to prepare a planting plan.
Our design is based on a contemporary garden style with a minimalist approach for interior courtyards. The high maintenance, fast- growing Leylandii hedge was removed and replaced with slower-growing hedge species at a more desirable height. Twelve umbrella trees frame the view from the house and create a sense of space. Underlaying planting includes clipped hedges and striking seasonal herbaceous plants.
